Kremlin Trolls Exposed: Russia's Information War Against Ukraine

While the devastation of Russia's war in eastern Ukraine is easy to spot, the virtual battle between Moscow and the West remains covert. Thousands of internet users flood social media, promoting the Kremlin’s position to the rest of the world. Lies and manipulation are their weapons. They're always online, yet their profiles are void of personal information. Their intention is to propagate violence and aggression. They are Kremlin trolls.

What is the salary of Russian trolls for Putin`s propaganda? - Bild

Now the whole world discusses odious President of the USA Donald Trump. World community was shocked by Trump win. Interesting fact that a great part of Americans themselves don`t support political strategy of president they elected.
So, let`s recall that no long ago the White House published a sanction list of Russians who allegedly helped to interfere in U.S. presidential election.
A young Russian hacker Alisa Shevchenko was one of them. Shevchenko denied the accusations in cyberattacks, claiming that she is just a hacker who helped businesses identify weaknesses in their online security. She insisted that her small company didn`t work for Russian government, claiming that the White House had either been tricked by “counterfeit in order to frame her company” or had “misinterpreted the facts.”
In the meantime the documents of CIA, FBI and NSA prove that Putin personally ordered to run a campaign objectivized to influence the results of the election, the Bild reports.
Alisa Shevchenko is not the first young Russian woman who works for Putin in cyberspace. As far back as 2015 world got to know the story of Ludmila Savchuk,  Russian government`s troll. Her main task was to agitate for Putin in social media, on forums, make comments and defame his enemies abroad. «Putin is a genius», «Ukrainians are fascists», «Europe is decaying» are the examples of her comments written by Kremlin`s order.
Security services with other governmental organizations analyze Internet space and public sentiments in social media in Russia and some Western countries, taking into consideration age, sex, education background and origin.
In July 2016, journalists of the Bild visited trolls factory in St.Petersburg where Savchuk was working at that time. One Russian woman said that «atmosphere is poisoned, propaganda is everywhere, families break down». About 400 people at the age of 20 to 30 were working there at that moment. They got salary of 640-800 euro a month, it`s a big sum for Russians».
